    George Pal (1908-1980) was a Hungarian-American animator, film director, and producer. He is best known for his work in the science fiction genre, producing films such as The War of the Worlds (1953), The Time Machine (1960), and The Power (1968). He was also a pioneer in the use of stop-motion animation, which he used to create some of the most iconic special effects in film history. Pal was nominated for seven Academy Awards and won three, including a special award for his work in the field of animation.
