Jia studied film at the Beijing Film Academy and began his career as a filmmaker in the mid-1990s. He gained international recognition for his films, including “Platform,” “Unknown Pleasures,” and “A Touch of Sin.” Jia has won numerous awards for his work, including the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival for “Still Life” in 2006.
