She is best known for her collaboration with filmmaker Fritz Lang, with whom she wrote the screenplay for the iconic film “Metropolis” (1927). Von Harbou was also a prolific author, writing novels, short stories, and plays throughout her career. She was a member of the Nazi Party and her association with the party led to her being blacklisted in the post-World War II era.
