    Terence Davies is a British writer, director, and actor known for his work in independent cinema. He was born in Liverpool in 1945 and grew up in a working-class Catholic family. Davies began his career as a filmmaker in the 1970s, making a series of short films that explored themes of memory, nostalgia, and loss. His feature films include “Distant Voices, Still Lives” (1988), “The Long Day Closes” (1992), and “Sunset Song” (2015). Davies is also a published author, with works including “Hallelujah Now” (1984) and “The House of Mirth” (2000).
