    Bio:

    Sei Shonagon was a Japanese writer and court lady who lived during the Heian period (794-1185). She is best known for her work “The Pillow Book,” a collection of observations, anecdotes, and musings on court life and Japanese culture. Little is known about her life outside of her writings, but she is believed to have been born into a noble family and served as a lady-in-waiting to Empress Teishi.
