Samuel Maoz is an Israeli film director and screenwriter. He was born on February 25, 1962, in Tel Aviv, Israel. Maoz served in the Israeli army during the 1982 Lebanon War, an experience that heavily influenced his filmmaking. He studied at the Beit Zvi School of Performing Arts and later worked as a cameraman and director for Israeli television. Maoz gained international recognition for his debut feature film, “Lebanon,” which won the Golden Lion at the 2009 Venice Film Festival. He has since directed the films “Foxtrot” and “The Human Factor.”
