Russel Crouse was an American playwright and librettist, born on February 20, 1893, in Findlay, Ohio. He is best known for his collaborations with Howard Lindsay, including the Pulitzer Prize-winning plays “State of the Union” and “The Sound of Music.” Crouse also wrote the libretto for the musical “Anything Goes” and co-wrote the book for “Life with Father.” He passed away on April 3, 1966, in New York City.
