    Robert James Waller was an American author and photographer, best known for his novel “The Bridges of Madison County.” He was born on August 1, 1939, in Charles City, Iowa, and died on March 10, 2017, in Fredericksburg, Texas. Waller was a professor of management and economics at the University of Northern Iowa before becoming a full-time writer. He wrote several books, including “Slow Waltz in Cedar Bend” and “Puerto Vallarta Squeeze.” Waller’s work often explored themes of love, loss, and the beauty of the natural world.
