Leos Carax is a French filmmaker and screenwriter known for his avant-garde style and poetic approach to storytelling. He was born on November 22, 1960, in Suresnes, France, and began making short films in his early twenties. Carax gained international recognition with his feature film debut, “Boy Meets Girl” (1984), which was followed by “Mauvais Sang” (1986) and “Les Amants du Pont-Neuf” (1991). He has since directed several other films, including “Pola X” (1999) and “Holy Motors” (2012), which won the award for Best Film at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. Carax is known for his collaborations with actor Denis Lavant and composer Neil Hannon.
