    Jane Hamilton is an American novelist and short story writer. She was born on July 13, 1957, in Oak Park, Illinois. Hamilton is best known for her novel “The Book of Ruth,” which won the PEN/Hemingway Award for First Fiction in 1989. She has also written several other novels, including “A Map of the World,” “The Short History of a Prince,” and “Laura Rider’s Masterpiece.” Hamilton currently resides in Rochester, Wisconsin.
