James Lebrecht is an American filmmaker, sound designer, and disability rights activist. He is best known for his work as a co-director and co-producer of the documentary film “Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution,” which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2020 and was later released on Netflix. The film tells the story of a summer camp for disabled teenagers in the 1970s and the impact it had on the disability rights movement. Prior to his work on “Crip Camp,” Lebrecht worked as a sound designer on numerous films and television shows, including “The Blood of Yingzhou District,” which won an Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Subject in 2007.
