Gene Roddenberry (1921-1991) was an American television writer and producer, best known for creating the science fiction series Star Trek. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and later worked as a commercial airline pilot before transitioning to television writing. Roddenberry’s vision for Star Trek was to create a show that explored social and political issues through the lens of science fiction. The show premiered in 1966 and has since become a cultural phenomenon, spawning multiple spin-offs and films. Roddenberry passed away in 1991, but his legacy continues to inspire generations of science fiction fans.
