Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt is a French-Belgian playwright, novelist, and filmmaker. He was born on March 28, 1960, in Lyon, France. Schmitt studied at the Lycée du Parc in Lyon and later at the École normale supérieure in Paris. He has written numerous plays, novels, and short stories, many of which have been translated into multiple languages. Some of his most famous works include “The Visitor,” “Oscar and the Lady in Pink,” and “The Most Beautiful Book in the World.” Schmitt has won several awards for his writing, including the Grand Prix du Théâtre de l’Académie française and the Prix Goncourt de la Nouvelle.
