Bahman Ghobadi is an Iranian-Kurdish filmmaker, born on February 1, 1969, in Baneh, Iran. He is known for his films that explore the lives of Kurds in Iran and Iraq. Ghobadi studied film at the Iranian Broadcasting College in Tehran and later at the Art University in Tehran. He has directed several award-winning films, including “A Time for Drunken Horses,” “Turtles Can Fly,” and “Half Moon.” Ghobadi’s films have been screened at major film festivals around the world, including Cannes, Venice, and Toronto. He is also a member of the Kurdish minority in Iran and has been an advocate for Kurdish rights.
