    Abbas Kiarostami was an Iranian film director, screenwriter, poet, and photographer. He was born on June 22, 1940, in Tehran, Iran, and passed away on July 4, 2016, in Paris, France. Kiarostami was known for his minimalist style and his exploration of the complexities of human relationships. He directed over 40 films, including “Taste of Cherry,” “Close-Up,” and “Certified Copy,” which won the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2010. Kiarostami was also a prolific writer and published several books of poetry and photography.
