Trey Edward Shults is an American filmmaker, writer, and actor. He is best known for his critically acclaimed films Krisha (2015) and Waves (2019). Shults wrote, directed, and starred in Krisha, which won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2015 SXSW Film Festival. His second feature, It Comes at Night (2017), was a horror-thriller that earned him widespread acclaim. His most recent film, Waves, was released in 2019 and was nominated for several awards, including the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture – Drama. Shults is also an actor, having appeared in the films Krisha, It Comes at Night, and Waves.
