Sidney Luft was an American film producer and the ex-husband of legendary actress Judy Garland. He was born in New York City in 1915 and began his career in the entertainment industry as a production assistant in the 1940s. He went on to produce a number of films, including Garland’s A Star Is Born (1954) and I Could Go On Singing (1963). Luft was also a successful Broadway producer, with credits including the musicals Gypsy (1959) and Fiddler on the Roof (1964). He died in 2005 at the age of 89.
