    Bio:

    Morris Engel (1918-2005) was an American independent filmmaker and photographer. He is best known for his 1953 film Little Fugitive, which he co-directed with his wife, Ruth Orkin. The film was a groundbreaking independent production and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Writing, Story and Screenplay. Engel was also a prolific photographer, and his work was featured in Life magazine and other publications. He was a pioneer of independent filmmaking and his influence can still be seen in modern independent films.
