Jennie Livingston is an American documentary filmmaker and producer best known for her 1990 documentary Paris Is Burning. She has also directed and produced other documentaries, including The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye and Word Is Out: Stories of Some of Our Lives. Livingston has won numerous awards for her work, including a Peabody Award, an Emmy Award, and a Sundance Grand Jury Prize. She is currently a professor at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.
