    Bio:

    James Clavell was an Australian-born American novelist, screenwriter, director, and World War II veteran. He is best known for his epic Asian Saga series of novels, which include Shogun, Tai-Pan, and Noble House. Clavell also wrote and directed the 1975 film adaptation of his novel, The Great Escape. He was a prolific writer, having written over 20 novels, as well as several screenplays and television miniseries. Clavell died in 1994 at the age of 77.
