Erich Pommer (1889-1966) was a German film producer and studio executive who was one of the most influential figures in the early days of the German film industry. He was a key figure in the development of the Expressionist movement in German cinema, producing such classics as The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920) and Nosferatu (1922). He also produced the first sound film in Germany, The Blue Angel (1930). After fleeing Nazi Germany in 1933, he moved to the United States and continued to produce films, including the Academy Award-winning The Lives of a Bengal Lancer (1935). He returned to Germany in the 1950s and continued to produce films until his death in 1966.
