    Bio:

    Abel Gance (1889-1981) was a French film director and producer best known for his silent films such as La Roue (1923) and Napoleon (1927). He was a pioneer of the use of innovative techniques such as split-screen, multiple-screen, and widescreen. He was also a prolific writer, producing over 50 films in his lifetime. Gance was a major influence on the French New Wave movement of the 1960s and his films are still widely acclaimed today.
