    William Friedkin is an American film director, producer, and screenwriter. He was born on August 29, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois. Friedkin is best known for directing the classic films “The French Connection” (1971) and “The Exorcist” (1973), both of which won Academy Awards for Best Picture and Best Director. He has also directed other notable films such as “Sorcerer” (1977), “To Live and Die in L.A.” (1985), and “Bug” (2006). Friedkin’s work is often characterized by its gritty realism and intense, suspenseful storytelling. He continues to work in the film industry today, with his most recent film being “Killer Joe” (2011).
