Stanley Nelson is an American documentary filmmaker who has directed and produced over 20 films. He is known for his work on social justice issues, particularly those related to African American history and culture. Some of his notable films include “The Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution,” “Freedom Riders,” and “Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool.” Nelson has won numerous awards for his work, including three Primetime Emmy Awards and a MacArthur Fellowship.
