Scandar Copti is a Palestinian-Israeli filmmaker, screenwriter, and actor. He is best known for co-directing the award-winning film “Ajami” with Israeli filmmaker Yaron Shani. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2010. Copti was born in Jaffa, Israel, in 1975, and grew up in a Palestinian family. He studied at Tel Aviv University and later at the Sam Spiegel Film and Television School in Jerusalem. Copti has also directed several short films and documentaries, and has acted in various films and TV shows.
