    Samuel Fuller was an American film director, screenwriter, and producer known for his gritty, hard-hitting style. He began his career as a journalist and war correspondent before transitioning to filmmaking in the 1940s. Some of his notable films include “The Steel Helmet,” “Pickup on South Street,” and “Shock Corridor.” Fuller was known for his use of unconventional camera angles and his willingness to tackle controversial subjects such as racism and mental illness. He passed away in 1997 at the age of 85.
