    Robert Aldrich (1918-1983) was an American film director, producer, and screenwriter. He is best known for directing films such as “What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?” (1962), “The Dirty Dozen” (1967), and “The Longest Yard” (1974). Aldrich was known for his gritty and realistic style, often exploring themes of violence, corruption, and betrayal. He was also a vocal advocate for independent filmmaking and was a founding member of the Directors Guild of America. Aldrich passed away in 1983 at the age of 65.
