Benjamin began his career as an actor in the 1960s, appearing in films such as “Goodbye, Columbus” and “Catch-22.” In the 1970s, he transitioned to directing, helming movies like “My Favorite Year” and “Mermaids.” Benjamin has also directed episodes of popular TV shows like “The West Wing” and “Law & Order.” He has been married to actress Paula Prentiss since 1961.
