    Ralph Bakshi is an American animator and director known for his work on animated films such as Fritz the Cat, Heavy Traffic, and The Lord of the Rings. He was born on October 29, 1938, in Haifa, Israel, and grew up in Brooklyn, New York. Bakshi began his career in animation in the 1960s, working for Terrytoons and eventually starting his own studio. He gained notoriety for his controversial and adult-oriented animated films in the 1970s, and continued to work in the industry throughout the following decades. Bakshi is considered a pioneer in the field of adult animation and has influenced many animators and filmmakers.
