He gained international recognition with his films “The Draughtsman’s Contract” (1982) and “The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover” (1989). Greenaway’s films often explore themes of art, sexuality, and death, and are characterized by their use of elaborate sets, complex narratives, and striking visuals. He has won numerous awards throughout his career, including the BAFTA Award for Best Direction for “The Draughtsman’s Contract.”
