    Well, let’s just say Ousmane Sembene’s ROI is so low, it’s like trying to find a needle in a haystack…if the haystack was made up of 1,999 other directors with better ROI. And with a D-List status, it’s safe to say he won’t be making any blockbuster hits anytime soon. Sorry, Ousmane.
     

    Bio:

    Ousmane Sembene was a Senegalese film director and writer, often referred to as the “father of African cinema.” He was born on January 1, 1923, in Ziguinchor, Senegal, and passed away on June 9, 2007, in Dakar, Senegal. Sembene’s films often dealt with social and political issues, including colonialism, post-colonialism, and African identity. Some of his most notable films include “Black Girl” (1966), “Xala” (1975), and “Moolaadé” (2004). Sembene’s work has been recognized with numerous awards and honors, including the prestigious Prix Jean Vigo and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Cannes Film Festival.
