Nuri Bilge Ceylan is a Turkish film director, screenwriter, and photographer. He was born on January 26, 1959, in Istanbul, Turkey. Ceylan studied engineering at Istanbul Technical University before pursuing a career in filmmaking. He has directed several critically acclaimed films, including “Once Upon a Time in Anatolia,” “Winter Sleep,” and “The Wild Pear Tree.” Ceylan has won numerous awards for his work, including the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2014 for “Winter Sleep.” He is known for his slow-paced, contemplative style and his exploration of themes such as existentialism, alienation, and the human condition.
