    Bio:

    Michael Powell was a British film director, producer, and screenwriter. He was born on September 30, 1905, in Bekesbourne, Kent, England, and died on February 19, 1990, in Avening, Gloucestershire, England. Powell is best known for his collaborations with Emeric Pressburger, with whom he co-directed several critically acclaimed films, including “The Red Shoes” (1948) and “Black Narcissus” (1947). He began his career in the film industry as a stills photographer and later worked as an assistant director before making his directorial debut in 1931 with the film “Two Crowded Hours.” Powell’s work was known for its vivid use of color, innovative camera techniques, and exploration of complex psychological themes. He was awarded a CBE in 1953 and a knighthood in 1981 for his contributions to British cinema.
