Martin Brest is an American film director, producer, and screenwriter. He was born on August 8, 1951, in The Bronx, New York City. Brest is best known for directing popular films such as “Beverly Hills Cop,” “Midnight Run,” and “Scent of a Woman.” He began his career as a filmmaker in the late 1970s, directing several short films before making his feature film debut with “Hot Tomorrows” in 1977. Brest has won several awards for his work, including a Golden Globe for Best Director for “Scent of a Woman” in 1993. However, he has been relatively inactive in the film industry since the release of his last film, “Gigli,” in 2003.
