Ken Loach is a British film and television director known for his socially conscious and politically charged films. He was born on June 17, 1936, in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, England. Loach began his career in television in the 1960s, directing episodes of popular British shows such as “Z Cars” and “Cathy Come Home.” He made his feature film debut in 1967 with “Poor Cow” and has since directed over 30 films, including “Kes,” “The Wind That Shakes the Barley,” and “I, Daniel Blake.” Loach has won numerous awards for his work, including the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival twice. He is known for his commitment to social justice and his films often explore issues such as poverty, unemployment, and the struggles of working-class people.
