    Joseph Ruben is an American film director, producer, and screenwriter. He was born on May 10, 1950, in Briarcliff Manor, New York. Ruben began his career in the film industry in the 1970s, directing low-budget horror films such as “The Sister-in-Law” and “It’s My Turn.” He gained critical acclaim in the 1980s with films like “The Stepfather” and “Dreamscape.” Ruben has also directed mainstream Hollywood films such as “Sleeping with the Enemy,” “Money Train,” and “The Forgotten.” He has been nominated for several awards throughout his career, including a Primetime Emmy for his work on the television series “The Defenders.”
