He was born on March 1, 1928, in Rouen, France, and died on January 29, 2016, in Paris, France. Rivette’s films often explored themes of conspiracy, paranoia, and the nature of performance. Some of his notable works include “Paris Belongs to Us,” “Celine and Julie Go Boating,” and “La Belle Noiseuse.” Rivette was also a prominent film critic and writer, contributing to the influential French film magazine Cahiers du Cinéma.
