Hiromasa Yonebayashi is a Japanese animator and film director. He was born on July 10, 1973, in Nonoichi, Ishikawa, Japan. Yonebayashi started his career at Studio Ghibli as an animator in 1996 and worked on several films, including Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, and Howl’s Moving Castle. In 2010, he made his directorial debut with The Secret World of Arrietty, which was a critical and commercial success. Yonebayashi went on to direct When Marnie Was There in 2014 and Mary and the Witch’s Flower in 2017. He is known for his attention to detail and his ability to create immersive and emotional stories.
