Denys Arcand is a Canadian film director, screenwriter, and producer. He was born on June 25, 1941, in Deschambault, Quebec, Canada. Arcand began his career in the film industry in the 1960s and has since directed numerous critically acclaimed films, including “The Decline of the American Empire” (1986), “Jesus of Montreal” (1989), and “The Barbarian Invasions” (2003), which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Arcand is known for his satirical and political films that often explore themes of social inequality and cultural identity. He has received numerous awards and honors throughout his career, including the Order of Canada and the National Order of Quebec.
