Jan de Bont is a Dutch film director, producer, and cinematographer. He is best known for directing the action films Speed and Twister. De Bont began his career as a cinematographer, working on films such as Die Hard and The Hunt for Red October. He made his directorial debut with the 1994 film Speed, which was a critical and commercial success. De Bont went on to direct other films such as Twister, Speed 2: Cruise Control, and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life. In recent years, de Bont has focused on producing films and television shows.
