    Well, Charles Crichton may be on the F-List, but at least he’s in the top 5% of directors in terms of ROI. I guess he’s the ultimate underdog story…or should we say underdirector?
     

    Bio:

    Charles Crichton (1910-1999) was a British film director and editor. He began his career as an editor in the 1930s and worked on several notable films, including “The Four Feathers” (1939) and “The Thief of Bagdad” (1940). In the 1940s, he began directing films, including the classic Ealing comedy “The Lavender Hill Mob” (1951) and the crime thriller “The Third Secret” (1964). Crichton was known for his skillful use of humor and suspense in his films. He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Director for “The Lavender Hill Mob” and received a BAFTA Fellowship in 1996.
