    Carroll Ballard is an American film director, producer, and cinematographer known for his work on films such as “The Black Stallion” and “Fly Away Home.” He was born on October 14, 1937, in Los Angeles, California. Ballard began his career as a cinematographer, working on documentaries and nature films. He made his directorial debut with the film “The Black Stallion” in 1979, which received critical acclaim and earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Director. Ballard has since directed several other films, including “Never Cry Wolf” and “Duma.” He is known for his visually stunning films that often focus on the relationship between humans and animals.
