Barbet Schroeder is a Swiss film director and producer known for his work in both French and American cinema. He was born on August 26, 1941, in Tehran, Iran, to a Swiss father and a German mother. Schroeder began his career as a film critic before transitioning to directing in the 1960s. He is best known for his collaborations with French New Wave filmmaker Eric Rohmer and for directing the films “Barfly,” “Reversal of Fortune,” and “Single White Female.” Schroeder has also produced several films, including “The White Ribbon” and “Amnesia.”
