Alfonso Arau is a Mexican film director, actor, and producer. He was born on January 11, 1932, in Mexico City, Mexico. Arau began his career as an actor in the 1960s before transitioning to directing in the 1970s. He is best known for his films “Like Water for Chocolate” (1992) and “A Walk in the Clouds” (1995). Arau has also directed several television shows and documentaries. He has won numerous awards for his work, including the Ariel Award for Best Director in 1993.
