    Bio:

    Aleksey German was a Russian film director known for his unique and unconventional style. He was born on July 20, 1938, in Leningrad, Soviet Union (now Saint Petersburg, Russia). German began his career as a screenwriter and made his directorial debut in 1967 with the film “The Seventh Companion.” He went on to direct several critically acclaimed films, including “Trial on the Road” (1971), “Twenty Days Without War” (1976), and “My Friend Ivan Lapshin” (1984). German was known for his long and complex shots, as well as his use of non-linear storytelling. He passed away on February 21, 2013, in St. Petersburg, Russia.
