Alain Resnais was a French film director known for his innovative and experimental approach to filmmaking. He was born on June 3, 1922, in Vannes, France, and began his career as a documentary filmmaker before transitioning to feature films. Resnais is best known for his films Hiroshima Mon Amour (1959), Last Year at Marienbad (1961), and Providence (1977). He was a key figure in the French New Wave movement and was known for his use of non-linear storytelling and unconventional narrative structures. Resnais passed away on March 1, 2014, in Paris, France, at the age of 91.
