Alain Gomis is a French-Senegalese film director known for his work in African cinema. He was born on March 4, 1972, in Paris, France, to a French mother and a Senegalese father. Gomis studied film at the Sorbonne University in Paris and began his career as a director in the late 1990s. He has directed several award-winning films, including “L’Afrance” (2001), “Andalucia” (2008), and “Today” (2012), which won the Golden Stallion award at the FESPACO film festival in Burkina Faso. Gomis is known for his poetic and lyrical style of filmmaking, which often explores themes of identity, migration, and cultural displacement.
