Tom Milne (1929-2005) was a British film critic and historian who wrote for publications such as Time Out, Sight & Sound, and The Guardian. He was a major contributor to the British Film Institute’s Sight & Sound magazine, and was a founding member of the London Film Critics’ Circle. He was also a noted film historian, writing several books on the subject, including The Cinema of Orson Welles and The Cinema of Jean-Luc Godard. Milne was a passionate advocate for the art of cinema, and his work helped to shape the way we think about film today.
