    Mordaunt Hall (1878-1930) was an American film critic and journalist who wrote for The New York Times from 1913 to 1930. He was known for his thoughtful and often witty reviews, and was one of the first critics to recognize the importance of film as an art form. He was also a pioneer in the field of film criticism, and his reviews helped to shape the way films were viewed and discussed. Hall was a major influence on the development of film criticism in the United States, and his work is still highly regarded today.
