    Ernest Hardy is an American film critic, journalist, and author. He is a contributing editor at the Los Angeles Times and has written for publications such as The New York Times, The Village Voice, and Rolling Stone. He is the author of Blood Beats Vol. 1: The Poetics of Hip Hop and the co-author of Soul: Black Power, Politics, and Pleasure. He has also written extensively about music, film, and culture for the Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, and other publications. Hardy is a two-time winner of the ASCAP Deems Taylor Award for Music Journalism.
